Once again, I am totally enjoying the workshop I am currently taking with DD Gadjinsky. She LOVES her art, and knows every tiny little thing about it! I'm hoping just by osmosis I will take it all in!

Here we go again! I figured it had been a couple of days ago I posted about the Fall season, and it's been almost a month and there were snowflakes today! crazy!

Here, you are seeing 'Velvet Goldmine' 9x12, a combination piece I experimented with, and quite like the results. The painting started in Jill Segal's class at the Haliburton School of the Arts, where we made coloured papers and played with textures and techniques. The painting came home and sat with me for a bit, until I decided I just had to have my mirrors! I think the end result worked well and for me, became an ART/see pic!

You can see this and the 4 other gold series paintings I have done at the Neilson Park Creative Centre on Nov 26-27 10am-4pm. This Winter Artfest will have lots of creativity displayed, so make it a day trip and come by to say hello!

Wow. That is the one word that comes to mind when thinking about all the things I did and saw in New Orleans and Alabama. What a fun little trip! And yes, very inspiring. The many galleries in the French Quarter held such a diversity of styles/colours/designs. I just want to hop right back into the studio and get going! Alas, work is consuming me right now, so have to get past this busy time first. No worries, I have visuals galore stuck in my brain! This commission piece is waiting for a name and

for me to deliver to it's forever home.

The festival today was a lot of fun, and I am certainly glad the weather was nice! I had a lot of positive comments, which is nice for me to hear! I also met Julie, of Chapter 21, a charity in Markham that I donated 'Broken Guitar Blues' to for their fundraiser. I love when you meet someone for the first time, and you just get along like you've always known them! Great watching the parade with you, Julie!!

The alphabet letters were well received with some commissions to do in the next little bit!

I'm off to the deep south for inspiration, and for holiday. New Orleans and all that jazz should inspire!

I've been busy working on a new concept for those who may not want to invest in a larger format pic of mine. Plus, these little ditties are great as unique gifts with a little price point!

Busy, busy, busy. The summer can do that to you. We try to cram in so many things while the weather is good.

I've been in the studio minimally lately, trying to complete some work for the upcoming Thornhill Village Festival I will showing at. More details about that a bit later.

I am very pleased to tell you about a beautiful wedding I attended over the weekend. The attention to detail was incredible, and the event all warm and cozy with a perfect mix of family and friends.

Adam and Melissa had seen my worked and seemed to love the gift of Fire on the Mountain for their new home. Neat thing was the hints of purple I have in this pic, corresponded with the aubergine theme of the wedding! It was meant to be!

The Aurora Jazz Festival is in full swing, and the music has been great. The weather is cooperating, but it is hot to sit in, I must say!

It's Friday night and I'm gearing up for the art filled weekend ahead! Put in good thoughts for good weather!

Tomorrow morn will take me to Richmond Hill to display 3 pics for the Festival-one of which you see a snapshot here of Paris of the Prairies 20x20 and will also take Circle in the Sand 20x20 and Tuxedo Pink 16x16 for the pink enthusiasts in the crowd!

Early Sunday morn will find Diana Bick and myself out in Etobicoke, setting up Art in the Park at the Neilson Centre with our new pop up tent! Should be a fun day, with new faces to show our functional art to.

I am feeling Spring is in the air, and I feel this pic 'Fiddler's Green' 8x10 does a good job of presenting a Spring feeling, and, of course, reflecting the mood!

This piece, along with others will be at the Artcures show in June. (June 18-26)

The artist's reception is on Friday June 17 from 6-9pm. I would hope for you to come to this 'Art after Dark' evening event, as there will be yummy food and beverages, along with presentations and a silent auction of artwork. The BIG event of the night is 'Art Attack' where 9 artists will paint fast and furious to produce a pic in just 45 minutes! These will then be auctioned off with proceeds going to the KidsArt program set up at the Aurora Cultural Centre. Tickets are $30 and so worth it. Check out www.artcures.ca to get all the info.

I've been reorganizing my studio, as it tends to become a disaster area when the creativity is flowing and the prep for the shows take over. I often wonder how I get all my stuff in there!

There is the possibility of another June show looming on the horizon, so I better get moving with the tidying and get on with the painting!

Circle in the Sand 20x20 was admired by a customer, who settled on 2 others instead. Yellow is still a hot decorative colour this year, so re look

at your wall space and bring in the trend to freshen your look!

I've been working away in studio prepping for the Heintzman House show coming up on April 29, 30, and May 1. I've completed 16 mini versions of my work to sell as Holiday Ornaments. Will post as soon as I get pics done to show all.

The custom cabinet maker I have hired for the bathroom renovation quite liked my work, and has taken home two pieces to check with his wife. This piece 'Am I Blue' 8x10 is one of his choices. Personally, this is one of my faves. Just like how the colours came together and the blue shell beads added the needed accent. Should I sell it to him, or keep for me?!

Sigh. Just back from the beautiful and

serene St. Annes Spa where I had a

Moor Mud treatment. A very interesting

sensation, as you are suspended in the

mud for 15 minutes.

I thought of my pic,

Below the Ocean 12x18, as I contemplated where the mud actually comes from...thoughts of the Dead Sea and all. Turns out, it comes from the Ontario Quebec border area. Oh well!

My skin feels soft, and I feel good. I am entering this pic (and 2 others) into the BWS juried show next week, so keep your fingers crossed the judge likes it!

The MAC show is now over...very nice to have it extended for the extra week. There were many who visited the show, and certainly on the last day -Sunday 27th- we had great success with customers who came in. I was glad to have been there to meet Ziyong, a pschyc student who discovered 'Fool's Gold' and took it home with him.

Wow, a month has zipped past since I have been able to think about this blog! The holiday season gets so crazed!

This 9x12 is the closest piece I have to represent the festive season in colour. 'Interplanetary' has just hints of blue green and rustic reds.

My friend Val, has returned from an incredible vaycay in Australia and beyond!

I had promised her an ART/see pic for her BIG birthday, so when she returned, she brought some beautiful shells she hoped I could incorporate into her pic.

These shells had lovely ranges of purple colour. She wanted to hang this piece in her main bathroom, so green and purple were the choice to match the decor. I will present her with this gift next week, so you are getting a sneak preview of "Land Down Under' a 12x18 original ART/see pic!

OK, I am getting back into the creative world...and have come up with a well rounded idea!

Well, I am just using some round mirrors and having some orbital fun!

Nothing to sphere here!

Life on Mars is 24x30 in size!

wow....it's crazy how fast the days/weeks go by. Summer was incredibly wonderful weather wise, so not much studio action was going on. I missed the creativity, but thoroughly enjoyed the outside activity.

Along with all the action going on, I also invested in a MAC computer, which I am liking so far. Problem is, all my pics and stuff are still on the PC. Got to get that changed over, but it requires time and loss of computer!

So, there is no piece of functional art to show you at this time, but I will be moving all files over soon. Stay tuned for the updates in the next month!

Until then, I wish you endless creativity!

wow, how time skips by! not much time lately to spend in the studio, but I am currently working on a piece for my fireplace room...biggest one I have done so far...will post when it is done.
this is 'Pieces of April' . If you look closely you will see the fabulous rusted pieces adorning this pic.
I am very excited about my new venture into creating a gallery for local artists...stay tuned and let me know if you are interested in hanging your work once it is up and running!

Wow...it was soo hot over the weekend for the Art in the Park event. Diana and I felt like we had melted...
Dan's (my hubby) fave ART/see pic has found a new home with Beverley C. She came to the event with hopes of finding a piece of artwork...and she found the one she loved. The mirror aspect worked in her favour for her foyer area. A combination of what she needed and wanted. Perfect! Thank you!

I'm back from the fab week at Haliburton...what an incredible course! Jill Segal is truly a special person, as were the classmates I had. An incredible amount of positive energy and support.
We had no air conditioning in the school, so 'sweat it out' took on a whole new meaning!
I will begin incorporating all what I learned into my next pieces, but not until after the Art in the Park show this weekend...July 17-18 at the Markham Museum located at Hwy 48 and 16th. See you there!

I've got the 'blues' ...not really, just showing you two of my blue pics - 'Suite Madame Blue' and 'Bitterblue' could be hung as a diptych or individually.

Heading up to Haliburton School of the Arts for next week. Jill Segal is the instructor for the acrylic/mixed media course Diana and I are taking. Should be great fun...at the course, and at the cottage. Finally some time to unwind and get creative with my good friend.

Watch for the influence in upcoming pieces! See you in a week or so!

'Two of Us' This was an experiment using large glass pieces on each side of the mirror. Lots of texture in this one. I have the close up as my desktop...love it!

They call me 'Mellow Yellow'....aaahh Donavan. You have been a great inspiration! These have bright yellow glass incorporated - found in the pails at Glowing Panes on Glen Cameron. Melanie is very happy to have her garbage being used! Her shop is also a wonderful inspiration with so much lovely stained glass pieces to marvel at. Love going there just to look, and well, find remnants for me!

this is my 'train' series in browns, reds and bits of black and white. The mirror is reflecting the sky on most of my pics. Let me know if you want to see these 'real'! So much better than the pics. Sigh. I do the best I can!

A week has gone by since Artcures show began and today is take down. Thanks to all who found their way to the renovated school house in Aurora to have a look at some incredible talent we have here in York Region!

I will be bringing 'Atlantis' home with me today and debating on keeping it or putting it in the Art in the Park show on July 17-18, Markham Museum grounds. What do you think?

I have found some very neat 'stuff'' to incorporate into my pics...will let you know when I actually use them. An ingredient listing, so to speak.

I used some great finds in this diptych, now owned by my neighbours, and wine agents Rich & Rita. There is sand, lentils, and a silver necklace incorporated here..Star Baby and Stars, Baby!

This is 'Purple Rain' which has been bought by another artist in York Region. (Diane Hughes, I believe) Very pleased to see it go to a home where it will be well viewed!

Wow, what a weekend of art!
The Aurora Cultural Centre is a beautiful refurbished school house and an incredible place to hold an art show. Lots of great art on display and for sale. Get there if you can - open until Sunday the 13th. Worth a visit!
I have sold 2 pieces, one to another artist I don't know, which is quite the compliment to me!
I appreciate too, the friends support I have received. Plus, it is great seeing all who come by!
Now gearing up for the Art in the Park Show July 17-18 held at the Markham Museum grounds - 16th & Hwy 48 See you there!
